Himmel über Karlsruhe, 2022

"Himmel über Karlsruhe", 2023 von Michail Rybakov

We all live under the same sky. We share the same light when we are in the same place. And when we are far away from each other, we don’t feel connected and can’t think of anything better than to ask: Is the sun shining where you are?

The website himmelueberkarlsruhe.de shows the current color of the sky over Karlsruhe, live. Just the color. Whether rain clouds or sunrise, whether Sahara sand colors the sky yellow or the winter gray, himmelueberkarlsruhe.de records the colors and shares the Karlsruhe sky with the whole world.

We look up far too seldom – the project reminds us of this gesture, this often so helpful change of perspective. One color makes visible the space in which we live and brings us closer. The collected light is archived and the resulting color bands tell a story, a story of the past days that each person can fill with their own meaning.
