The interactive installation ACCESS engages playfully with the subject of surveillance and control. It utilizes various tracking technologies, and renders these experiences, at once individual and public, acoustically and visually tangible. The light cone of a spotlight automatically follows randomly selected, anonymous people. From a directional loudspeaker, sounds and noise are heard, which you can only hear when you are standing in the spotlight. The person being followed in this way does not know who is doing this or why, neither do they know that they are the only person who can perceive these sounds. The work points to the meaning of surveillance and tracking in digitized societies. By putting people in the spotlight for a short time, ACCESS also points to the importance of staging yourself on social media.
