Kaiserpassage

The Kaiserpassage is located in the west of Karlsruhe city centre. It connects Waldstraße and Kaiserstraße with Akademiestraße via the Passagehof.

The Kaiserpassage was built in the 19th century by architect Gustav Ziegler. It was the first glass-roofed shopping street in Karlsruhe. In 1887, it was an attraction due to its electric lighting. In the pre-cinema era, there was the Panorama, where you could look at pictures through magnifying lenses in front of a wooden wall.
