Laurie Spiegel is an American high-tech computer composer. Born in Chigago, she first studied social sciences before studying classical guitar and composition in London, later baroque and renaissance lute at the Juilliard School and composition with Jacob Druckmann and Vincent Persichetti. Her musical works are characterized by her ability to unite form and emotion in electronic music. In 2023, she will receive the Giga Hertz Prize for Electronic Music and Sound Art for her musical life’s work.
