From October 12 to 15, visitors can experience the contemporary music festival ZeitGenuss, curated by the ALEPH Guitar Quartet. During the event, the ensemble celebrates its 30th anniversary and therefore invites the guests of the festival to concerts and workshops.

The opening of the festival will take place in the Wolfgang-Rihm-Forum of the Karlsruhe University of Music with the anniversary concert of the ALEPH Guitar Quartet, in which the ensemble will premiere numerous works by composers who have accompanied the musicians for many years and present a musical birthday present with their compositions. In addition to the ALEPH Guitar Quartet, other top-class musicians invited by the ensemble will perform concerts at venues such as the ZKM and the Badisches Staatstheater, and present works by contemporary composers to visitors.

The ALEPH Guitar Quartet, founded in 1993 by Andrés Hernández Alba and Wolfgang Sehringer during their time as students and completed as a quartet by Tillmann Reinbeck and Christian Wenicke, stands for innovation in new music, as they work in constant exchange with composers, sound engineers, as well as acousticians to advance the musical language and playing techniques of the 20th and 21st centuries, and have thus already performed more than 65 compositions by contemporary composers.

In addition to the Wolfgang Rihm Forum, the ZKM will also be a venue for musical entertainment, as the institution has been in close cooperation with the guitar quartet for several years and is both home and cradle of creative work for the four artists, as a very special program highlight, the ZeitGenuss_ADD-ON Poème symphonique by György Ligeti will be on display with free admission, and visitors can look forward to a work of a special kind, in which 100 metronomes are started together at different tempos and gradually texture the sound world of the surrounding space until the last device has fallen silent.
