T-Short Animation Film Festival

13. September 2024 — 15. September 2024

In September 2024 there will be an opportunity to experience the world of auteur animation at the Kinemathek Karlsruhe. Animated films offer a special form of visual narrative art that is characterised by its artistic depth and innovative design. These short films are often abstract, experimental and surreal and convey complex themes and emotions without words.

The selected films show how authors can use creative visual means to convey meaningful and often profound messages in a short period of time. This type of animation opens up new perspectives and is far more than mere entertainment. Over three days in three screenings, three specially compiled programmes from different competition categories will be presented at the Kinemathek Karlsruhe. The screenings will show films of different genres and techniques, from surrealism to narrative film, from comedy to tragedy, from traditional animation to experimental film, from sand animation to 3D animation.

The event will take place both in Karlsruhe and online. The screenings at the Kinemathek offer a direct cinema experience, while the online option provides access for viewers in Germany as well as festival participants and invited guests.
