The Ideal Spaces Working Group invites to the Symposium Natural City on September 1 and 2, in which topics of current urbanity and the Natural or Green city are discussed.
Led by the motto: ”What can we discover together?”, participants of the symposium are expected at the headquarters of the non-profit foundation, which is located in a landscape conservation area outside the city in a villa from the 1950s with a large encompassing garden. The theme of the symposium, the Natural City, echoes the notion of the Green City, but goes far beyond it, so that in the course of the event, among other things, the history of ideas of a “natural” city and its implementation to date, contemporary urbanity in the Anthropocene (the city as a non-place and ecological threat), and the Natural, or Green, City of the immediate future and the related theme of “New Places for New Communities” are put the centre of attention and debated together.
Short presentations and moderated discussions are planned, as well as the confrontation with the various topics. The event will be recorded and also broadcast via life stream, with subsequent publication of the presentations and the results of the discussions. Parallel to the programme, artworks on the theme of the Natural City are exhibited in the foundation’s headquarters, approaching the complex of themes from an aesthetical side.
