Can we watch mushrooms think? And if so, what do they have to tell us? With the installation Fungal Frequencies, SurrealLabor (Andreas Hölldorfer, Julia Ihls and Marius Probst) explores the interfaces between mycelial and electronic signal processing. As part of the exhibition Media art is here, the artwork can be seen from August 15 to September 15 as a showcase work at TRIANGEL Transfer | Kultur | Raum.
With the supplementary activation program Shroomours, the collective wants to go a little deeper and illuminate the black box around the mycelium – the underground network of hyphae of the fungi – from different angles. In addition to insights into the production and installation backgrounds by the SurrealLabor artists, a KIT research input will provide a contextualizing perspective from the field of electrobiotechnology. This will be followed by an activating short workshop on creative work and cultivation with mushrooms.
Admission is free. The event will be held in German and English.
