Funding of innovative, collaborative, and interdisciplinary media art projects at a local level, and international network activities from the municipal budget.
For the third time, the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Karlsruhe announces the project funding program for media art. Funding is provided for both local and public media art projects that take place in Karlsruhe, as well as projects that enhance international networking, exchanges, and collaboration within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in the field of media arts. The goal is to enable the realization of artistic projects, which by means of the media arts provide an independent take on relevant cultural, artistic, and social issues of the present day, and represent an enrichment of the broad field of media arts in Karlsruhe. Media art is here defined as any artistic work that is created, presented, or used with the aid of technological resources.
The project funding program is aimed at Karlsruhe artists, creatives, initiatives, and institutions active in the fields of culture and media. Applicants must be real people or groups of people – as well as students with suitable specializations from Karlsruhe who have studied for at least five semesters – plus cultural, artistic, scientific, and creative economy institutions in Karlsruhe. Excluded are works created in the context of a school or academic course of study (semester or final exam projects, for instance), and also projects that have already been realized.
Applications can only be submitted via the online application form and in German language.
