Experience the Long Night of the PhonoLuxMaschine in the foyer of the Kinemathek in the Kaiserpassage on January 27, 2024, from 06:00 p.m. to 01:00 a.m. the following day. On this evening, all four works realized in the project funding program of the UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts Karlsruhe will be shown in a continuous loop.

The PhonoLux machine consists of two projectors that can be coordinated via a mapping program and controlled by a computer with a touchscreen.

The machine is located in the foyer of the Kinemathek Karlsruhe and illuminates the wall above the movie theater, on which cinema painters used to hang large paintings to advertise the cinema hits of the time. Funded as part of the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe 2020 project funding program for media art, the machine is ideally suited as a presentation platform for interactive sound and video installations, but also for broadcasting lectures, films or concerts.

The following works of art will be on display as part of the Long Night of the PhonoLuxMaschine:

Lichtfragmente by Holger Förterer
Reflection of the projection – A space for Contemplation by Didi Müller
Trinity Twins by Michael Saup
Thirst by Justin Koch

The Kinemathek invites visitors to watch the works at their leisure and experience the combination of light, sound, media art and space, while enjoying a cocktail at the cinema bar.

Admission is free.
