The multimedia artwork by Colombian artist Ingrid Cuestas was selected from 15 international applications in the Open Call initiated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research and the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Karlsruhe Visions of transformations to sustainability.
Earth We Are and Shall Return explores the importance of food sovereignty for a healthy society living in harmony with nature and critically reflects on the unbridled use of resources, the consumption of single-use plastic, our ecological footprint and its impact on sustaining life on our planet. Cuestas combines ancient knowledge with technological change to create an immersive work that critically reflects on unbridled resource consumption and creates a future scenario that leads back to the origins of humanity.
