The IDIF is dedicated to independent film productions from all over the world. The festival presents a multifaceted selection of short films as well as documentary and scenic feature-length films made outside the traditional film and television studios.
The filmmakers who take centre stage here deliberately break with the usual patterns of mainstream cinema. Their works are characterised by originality, inspiration and a refreshing difference. With a keen sense for contemporary themes and emotional staging, they utilise the entire spectrum of modern cinematic art to inspire audiences.
The festival is also characterised by a wide variety of genres that are often neglected in traditional German and European film. It celebrates cinema that courageously transcends the boundaries of reality and concentrates on the essentials: storytelling. The INDEPENDENT DAYS programme offers a varied selection of films that impressively reflect the diversity of independent cinema.
