Wieoftnoch is happy to present selected works from the exhibition Rogue Planet by the Düsseldorf-based artist duo Hedda Roman, consisting of Hedda Schattanik and Roman Szczesny, under the title Alien Gazes.
In their artistic practice, Hedda Roman interweave artificial intelligence with cinematic elements, surreal animation, literature, drama, sculpture, photography, and drawing. The result is computer-generated images and immersive installations that go far beyond simply generating random AI imagery, representing a conscious collaboration between human and machine.
A central element of the exhibition is the avatar Oldboy, a Latent Space Traveller, whose poetic dialogues blur the boundaries between the digital realm and reality. Oldboy’s existence questions traditional concepts of origin and identity, reflecting the transformative impact of digital technologies and artificial intelligence on our understanding of self.
The exhibition invites visitors to reconsider our contemporary world and notions of identity in the context of digital narratives. It encourages reflection on how machine learning and digital technologies shape, distort, and reconstruct our perceptions of identity and reality.
