Cinéfête at the Kinemathek Karlsruhe: French youth film festival

The 23rd edition of Cinéfête promises a colourful and eclectic programme that will take students on a captivating journey through French cinema. With a selection of seven films, this festival offers a wide range of unique screenings that are entertaining, inspiring and educational in equal measure.

This year’s programme offers a diverse selection of exciting films from various genres. Immerse yourself in the world of ambitious young people who dream of a career as hip-hop dancers in Allons Enfants. Or accompany the lovable stray Chien Pourri and his faithful friend Chaplapla on their adventures through the streets of Paris in Chien Pourri, la vie à Paris!. Another highlight is Ernest & Célestine: le Voyage en Charabie, in which Ernest and Célestine, together with friends, do everything they can to rediscover the music that has disappeared and make life in their village worth living again. You can also look forward to other captivating films such as La Brigade and Les Têtes Givrées as well as Neneh Superstar and Ténor, which complete the Cinéfête programme and promise a varied and entertaining film experience.

Cinéfête is a renowned French youth film festival that takes place in around 120 German cinemas every year and offers more than 100,000 schoolgirls an insight into French culture and film art. By selecting high-quality films in the original language with subtitles, the festival gives pupils an authentic cultural experience and awakens their interest in the world of cinema. Educational materials for each film support teachers in preparing and following up in the classroom.
