The Queer Film Festival Karlsruhe presents 13 current feature films, 2 audience choice films and 3 short film programmes at the Kinemathek Karlsruhe, as well as selected reruns at the Schauburg Karlsruhe for the first time. This year, PRIDE PICTURES celebrates its 30th anniversary, and to the festival’s great delight, Mrs. Muhterem Aras, President of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg has taken over the patronage.
On the big screen and in public, the festival gives space and visibility to queer stories in all facets. The festival wants to show alternative and new perspectives. Diversity, acceptance and respect for queer lifestyles as issues, are more important than ever in recent years, when populists around the world make minorities again the target of aggression and hatred.
Over the past 30 years, the PRIDE PICTURES Queer Film Festival Karlsruhe has been showing queer stories on the big screen and making diverse perspectives on queer love and queer life visible. Since 2015, the film festival has been supported by the non-profit association PRIDE PICTURES e.V. and has become one of the largest queer film festivals in Germany.
The festival continues to impress visitors each year with a selection of outstanding recent films and engaging film discussions with filmmakers. A panel discussion in cooperation with the “Junges Staatstheater in der Insel” and an opening party round off this year’s programme.
