Under the motto 25 years. Celebrate with us! visitors can expect over 240 programme items. Highlights include an AI workshop at the ZKM, the human-robot performance Robotic Soundscape by the HfG and the oldest public exhibition of video game machines at the RetroGames e.V.

KAMUNA is an annual cultural event at which numerous Karlsruhe museums and cultural institutions open their doors from 6 pm to midnight. This year, 18 institutions are taking part, offering a varied programme for all age groups. A special anniversary present awaits all 25-year-olds: they receive free admission.

The HfG is an official partner of KAMUNA for the second time and is presenting current student works and projects from the exhibition design and scenography, communication design, art studies and media philosophy, media art and product design programmes in the atriums. The results of the HfG taster programme, which students have creatively developed in workshops, will also be exhibited.

One of the HfG’s highlights is the performance Robotic Soundscape by Kal Spelletich, which takes place at 8 and 9 pm. This interactive robotic sound art performance combines a machine orchestra with electromechanical sound generators and automatic instruments. Also noteworthy is the workshop Illuminating Nature in cooperation with the Hertzlab at the ZKM from 9 pm to midnight, which focuses on bioluminescent mushrooms.

The ZKM is also joining in the celebrations and is offering an art bus with a dyeing workshop on its forecourt, where visitors can get creative themselves. Workshops on topics such as artificial intelligence complete the programme. Digital Worlds will also open on the day of KAMUNA, right next to the exhibition zkm_gameplay. the next level. In the evening, Simon Pfeffel is performing his impressive performance Climbing Mount Everest in a media theatre.

Other HfG exhibitions include Antennae: Frequencies from the Archive at the ZKM, developed and curated by the seminar group Antennae to feel-think-know, and Hydromedia. Seeing with Water at the Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe, an EU-funded artistic research project.

As part of the Media art is here exhibition, the performative sound exhibition Radio-Choreography: Acts of Transmission has been on display at the Badischer Kunstverein since June 16. Three further media art works will be added to KAMUNA as a preview before the official start of Media art is here on 15 August: Tides of Memories – The Other Time I Drowned on the museum balcony at the ZKM and Natural Flow and AGISTRILOGY in the outdoor area and foyer of the Kinemathek Karlsruhe.

Shuttle bus lines make it easier to get to the events and are included in the KAMUNA ticket. Tickets are available in advance for €10 and at the box office for €12. Children and young people up to the age of 17 are admitted free of charge.
