City to City
City to City is an international project launched in 2020 by ten members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network Media Arts Cluster – Austin, Braga, Cali, Changsha, Guadalajara, Karlsruhe, Kosice, Sapporo, Viborg and York – in response to the pandemic to support media artists in challenging times and to combine sustainable development with artistic creation. Under the motto PLAY! the successful project was continued in 2021 as a cooperation between 13 media art cities – new additions were Enghien-les-Bains, Gwangju and Toronto.
The project was awarded the Best International Project Prize in 2021 by the Fondazione Santagata, one of the most important Italian foundations dedicated to cultural innovation as a factor in economic development. The award aims to give visibility and recognition to projects within the UNESCO area that present themselves for sustainable development in the cultural, economic and communal environment and that are in line with the goals of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations by providing the Promote active participation and the development of cooperation networks.
