For four long years, jazz enthusiasts had to wait until the brand new and modern space of the Jazz Club Karlsruhe in the former Kurbel was completed. On September 23, the time has finally come for the Grand Opening with two major program items and also a special film screening at the Kinemathek Karlsruhe.
The evening starts with the opening event at 8 p.m. You can expect an electrifying jazz session with the band Jazzconnection, founded especially for the opening, consisting of singer and trumpeter Sean Guptill, saxophonist Christian Steuber, Rosanna Zacharias on bass, pianist Gernot Ziegler and Sebastian Säuberlich on drums and other surprise guests.
The second part of the evening continues with the first late night jazz session in the brand new premises, which you can attend without tickets. As usual, jazz musicians are welcome to participate spontaneously! However, places are limited, but admission will be possible throughout the evening as soon as capacity permits.
At the same time, the classic jazz film Round Midnight by Betrant Tavernier, considered by many to be the best jazz film of all time, will be shown at the Kinemathek Karlsruhe.
For all those who unfortunately do not have time that evening, there is an extensive jazz program that has it all. In addition to the Open House on the opening day from 12 till 2 p.m., in which you can participate without prior registration, the three-day Jazz Festival will also take place from October 19-21, as well as, of course, many other concerts with international stars and regional talents.
