At a time when artificial intelligence is taking on an increasingly present role, the exhibition at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe takes a fascinating look at this complex topic. Instead of reacting with preconceptions, it invites us to enter into a dialogue with algorithmic systems and explore our relationship with technology in an intuitive way.

The works that occupy the ground floor of Atrium 1+2 offer a multifaceted spectrum of reflections. Starting with “AEIOU” (2024) by robotlab, where two industrial robots compose machine-generated texts, allowing us to participate in a self-reflexive dialogue. This unique installation explores the contemporary realities created by the synergies of robots and artificial intelligence.

In “Electrify Me, Baby” (2024) by Anne Duk Hee Jordan, nature and technology merge into a hybrid world that reflects the course of life in a humorous way. Here, the artist invites us to reflect on our existence in an inextricably linked world and to explore the concept of “artificial stupidity”.

In between, the ZKM Hertz-Lab presents the AI-based intervention “Flatware, Hardware, Software, Wetware” (2024), which plays with intelligent work signs for artworks and challenges our perception.

“(A)I Tell You, You Tell Me” is more than just an exhibition – it is a place of shared learning and research. A varied accompanying programme explores alternative perspectives on the humanisation of technology and opens up new ways of reflection. Ultimately, it is about understanding the complex interactions between humans and machines and learning from them for ourselves and society.
